“GTU…a legacy.”

This has been proven as multitudes of people flocked at the Cagayan Sports Complex to celebrate the “Gobyerno Ti Umili” Caravan last February 18-19, 2012.

“Gobyerno Ti Umili” is Governor Alvaro T. Antonio’s aspiration for the province which he worked hard to attain its realization.  It has the goal for people-centered development and governance working toward progressive and empowered Cagayano communities. It also seeks the emergence of the Cagayano who is engaged, discerning and firmly grounded in his community and collective identity.

The two-day affair commenced with an opening program attended by employees of the Provincial Government of Cagayan who also gave surprise presentations to the governor in celebration of his 60th birthday.  A powerful and moving rendition of the song “Power of the Dream” by daughters Cristina and Criselda Antonio joined by employees of the Governor’s Office, which puts in a nutshell the Governor’s aspiration for the province made the audience emotional.  Moreover, the event was also highlighted with the conduct of an Agri-Trade Fair, the First Cagayan Food Show and Job Fair at the said venue.

Adding glitter and festivity on the said caravan were the exhibition games played by the PBA Legends vs. Cagayan All-Stars and Star Magic of ABS-CBN vs. Cagayan Varsitarians.   The aforementioned events invited a jam-packed crowd.

A breath-taking fireworks display was showcased after the games followed by a free concert of the Aegis Band.

On its second day, political leaders all over the province manifested their support to the Governor and greeted him on his birthday with messages followed by presentations coming from the municipalities present.  It was also attended by different men and women from the public and private sectors as well as non-government organizations.

Cristina and Criselda Antonio, daughters of the governor gave a surprise song number accompanied with a confetti drop which delighted the full house attendance at the Cagayan Sports Complex.

“I stand committed.” Thus said the governor in his message assuring the people that he would give emphasis on the 10k agenda together with Vice Governor Leonides N. Fausto.  Gov. Antonio strongly urged everyone to act as one people and be proud of being Cagayanos.  Furthermore, he addressed the large crowd that he will never stop in making Cagayan a progressive and peaceful province.

Hence, with the thunderous and deafening applause from the crowd and the different response from the leaders of the province, GTU has truly indeed made its mark in the province.
