Cagayanos donate blood to save lives

Some 171 Cagayanos donated blood during the recently conducted blood-letting activity, which was part of  the Aggao Nac Cagayan 2012 celebration held at the Ecopark, Cagayan Sports Complex, Tuguegarao City.

The activity which is dubbed as project “Blood of the New Generation” (BONG) aimed to establish Cagayan Blood Bank for Cagayanos and to sustain sufficient availability of blood supply for the Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGOC) employees and participating poor barangays and constituents of the province.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in cooperation with the Cagayan Valley Inter-regional Blood Center (CVIRBC)of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC).

Donors came from the municipalities of Alcala, Sta . Teresita, Iguig, Buguey, Baggao, Abulug and Tuguegarao City; and various schools such as University of Cagayan Valley (UCV), Florencio L. Vargas College (FLVC), Cagayan State University (CSU), and University of St. Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), national government agencies like the Department of Education (DepEd), and the Philippine National Police (PNP); non-government organizations such as the Confederation of Ilokano Association- Samahang Ilokano (CIASI) and the Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGOC).

From the 171 qualified donors, 84,500CC of blood were collected.
