The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) through the Provincial Child Development Center (PCDC) recently celebrated the Family Day at Chateau Resort, Tuguegarao City on October 4, 2012. The celebration is one of the culminating activities for the annual celebration of the National Family Week every month of September which emphasizes on the importance of every Filipino family.
According to Milagros Catral, Provincial Coordinator for Child Welfare of PSWDO, the celebration is a worthwhile experience especially to parents and pre-school children of the PCDC. “We celebrate family day to give the children of PCDC quality time with their parents. Through the activity, families will be given enough time to enjoy swimming, bonding, and playing. It is also a way to develop the physical and motor skills including social and emotional skills of the children because of some parlor games and other activities prepared for them,” Catral said.
The theme “Ensuring Work-Family Balance” further describes how parents share their quality time for their children even after a day’s work. “ Parents should also give themselves a break in order to be closer to their children,” Catral added.
A Search for the Best Family was also conducted during the activity. Mr. and Mrs. Christian Carag and family won the search. Tokens were given as prizes.
