In order to provide livelihood to families of underweight children in the province, the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) dispersed 150 pieces of hybrid chickens this year to different municipalities in the province.

“The municipalities eyed to be beneficiaries of the said assistance were identified by the Municipal Nutrition Council,” said Senior Agriculturist Ofelia Catienza of the PVO.

Catienza added that this program aims to provide additional source of income for families with malnourish children.

During the first quarter of the year, 75 hybrid chickens were distributed in the municipality of Peñablanca. For the third quarter, 75 hybrid chickens in barangays Nararagan and Macugay in Ballesteros were dispersed. The barangays identified are noted to have the most number of underweight pre-school and school children.

Further, the PVO conducted a seminar on the proper raising of hybrid chickens.
