In order to address the education needs of the youth in the province, Governor Alvaro T. Antonio further strengthened his thrust on “Karunungan” by providing scholarship programs for the youth.
Some 6,583 students recently flocked to the provincewide application of Bin-I Ti Agtutubo (BTA) Scholarship program in different venues in the province. The provincewide application was spearheaded by the People’s Action Center (PAC).
The application commenced last January 18 to 31, 2013 in the respective municipal halls and gymnasiums of the 28 towns and 1 city in the province.
According to Genie Magday, PAC Scholarship Coordinator, there were 2,063 applicants from the 1st district; 2,029 and 2,491 applicants from the 2nd and 3rd district, respectively.
The students who applied for the BTA Scholarship program are incoming first year students, some are already enrolled in the tertiary level. These students come from marginalized families. “This is one of the criteria to qualify an aspiring scholar”, Magday added.
Meanwhile, PAC has already set the scholarship examination on March 17, 2013 in preparation for the first semester classes.
