To strengthen the health management of poultry and livestock in Cagayan, the Provincial Government of Cagayan through its Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) continues its bid in the prevention, control and eradication of animal diseases in the province.
An information, education and communication campaign was conducted recently by representatives of the PVO regarding Priority and Emerging Diseases of Livestock, Small and Large Ruminants Production and Management and Prevention, Control and Eradication of Diseases in some barangays in Sto. Niño, Cagayan.
According to Dr. Arnulfo Perez, Head of the Animal Health Division of the PVO, the activity aims to provide knowledge and technical know-how to farmers, livestock raisers and barangay residents on management and health strategies in order to increase animal population and eradicate the occurrence of diseases.
Dr. Perez also discussed the importance of vaccination and immunization of animals as a means of preventing the occurrence of animal diseases that can cause great loss to the livestock and poultry sector in the province.
The Local Government Unit of Sto. Niño through its Municipal Agriculturist Office and barangay officials of barangays Abariungan Ruar, Calapangan, Abariungan Uneg and Calassitan co-sponsored the two-day information drive, which was conducted last January 30-31, 2013.
