In order to monitor the health of the inmates and to provide them necessary medical attention, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Cagayan conducts regular medical and dental consultations in the different provincial jails of the province.
Some 132 inmates of the Cagayan Provincial Jail (CPJ) in Tuguegarao City and staff of the Provincial Warden’s Office sought medical consultation, while 22 inmates were administered tooth extraction last February 8, 2013.
Among the cases consulted by the medical team of PHO were gastritis, hypertension, skin diseases, cough and colds, rheumatism and diarrhea.
On the other hand, a medical and dental consultation was conducted at Sanchez Mira Detention Jail last February 6, 2013 wherein some 70 inmates underwent medical consultation and seven inmates underwent tooth extraction.
Meanwhile, another medical and dental consultation was conducted at Aparri Detention Jail wherein 97 inmates were given medical consultation and nine inmates undergone tooth extraction.
Free medicines provided by Agbiag Party List headed by Cong. Patrick T. Antonio were distributed to the inmates during the series of medical and dental consultations to the different provincial jails.
