The National Nutrition Council Regional Office 2, in cooperation with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Cagayan spearheaded a training on Infant Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Program which is now being conducted in the different municipalities of Cagayan.
According to Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Carlos D Cortina III, the training started last January 28, 2013 and will end on March 22, 2013. “Participants of the training are members of the barangay nutrition committee that comprises of midwives, barangay health workers and scholars, women leaders and representatives of non-government organizations,” Dr. Cortina added.
On the other hand, Emerita Talang, Cagayan Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Coordinator, Cagayan Nutrition Program Coordinator Magdalena Lara and the President of Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines, Cagayan Chapter Dr. Vivian Cachapero attended a trainer’s training for IYCF program last October 5-13, 2012 in Metro Manila.
Previously, a leg of trainers’ training on IYCF Program was conducted for nutritionist-dieticians from the PHO, municipal nutrition action officers, nurses, midwives, municipal health officers and nutrition desk officers in Baguio City last November 5-12, 2012.
The participants of the previous trainings are now the speakers of the on-going training in the different municipalities in Cagayan.
