The Provincial Government of Cagayan through the Provincial Tourism Office conducted a Basic Statistics Training to accommodation establishments and municipal tourism officers in the province last February 13-15, 2013 at the function hall of Paseo Reale Mall, Tuguegarao City.

The said training is a continuing program of the Department of Tourism, Region 2 which aims to equip planning and tourism officers and staff of accommodation establishments in the gathering of tourism statistics. This is now being standardized for a more reliable and accurate data that will serve as a benchmark for future plans.

Several facilitators and speakers were given the chance to share their knowledge and expertise on the said training.  Topics on tourism situations, tourism statistics fundamentals and assessment, standard tourism statistics recording and reporting were discussed during the three-day training program.

Speakers include DOT Regional Director Blessida Diwa and Provincial Tourism Officer Jenifer Junio-Baquiran. Other tourism-related topics were also given by Zenaida Gerena, Venus Meman and Reden Danao of the Provincial Tourism Office.

Meanwhile, in order for the training program be echoed to other municipalities, the same shall be conducted in the second district municipalities on March 13-15, 2013 in Claveria, Cagayan.
