Some six hundred sixty one (661) job seekers flocked at the two-day job fair activity held at the Cagayan National High School, Tuguegarao City last June 23-24, 2013. The activity was a part of the Aggao nac Cagayan celebration.
According to Public Employment Service Officer (PESO) Marites Taccad, the job fair aimed to give job opportunities to unemployed Cagayanos.
There were seventeen (17) local companies and six (6) overseas agencies that conducted screening on job openings.
Vacancies for overseas employment include nurses, farm, agriculture and industrial workers, domestic helpers, call center agents, machine and heavy equipment operators, and office, marketing and sales staff.
Local employment job openings were bank staffs, sales and marketing staffs, hotel staffs, engineers and many others.
Meanwhile Technical Education Skill Development Authority (TESDA) Cagayan Provincial Director Charito B. Santos was also present during the first day of the job fair. TESDA conducted promotions of their free scholarship program for NC II trainings during the event.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines also participated in the activity. Their staff conducted briefing for soldier course, preparatory course and officer candidate course.
During the job fair, there were six (6) job seekers that were hired on-the-spot, one (1) for overseas employment and five (5) for local employment.
The job fair was spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Cagayan through the PESO of the Governor’s Office in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment.
