The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)  conducted the Power 101 Orientation among members of the local media on August 27, 2013 at the Tuguegarao Substation located at Larion Alto, Tuguegarao City.

As part of the orientation, the local media representatives were toured by some NGCP staff inside the substation. Lectures on the use of the facilities and equipment and the basics of electricity transmission were conducted.

The NGCP is a privately owned corporation that holds the 25-year concession for operating, maintaining and developing the country’s power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity from power plants to distribution utilities through its interconnected system of transmission cables and towers, substation and related assets.

Meanwhile, a press conference followed after the orientation at Las Palmas Resort, Tuguegarao City which  participated by  Atty. Cynthia P. Abalanza, NGCP Spokesperson, Engr. Guillermo Redoblado, Sr. Technical Officer, Engr. Alex Alvarez, District Operations Manager and Lilibeth P. Gaydowen, Public Affairs Officer along with the local media representatives.

The group reported on projects like expansion in some areas in Luzon and to the other islands of the country, and also improvements of facilities for better delivery of electrical transmission services in the community. Furthermore, topics on   the NGCP’s role in the Energy Industry, Understanding Significant Incidents and Commonly Used Terms and Safety Reminders to avoid dangers on electrical power were discussed.

Before the NGCP staff left the province, they made a courtesy visit at the Provincial Government of Cagayan and met with  Edna T. Junio, Provincial Administrator, at the Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol Compound, Tuguegarao City.
